Brickfinder turns catalog infrastructure into playful product discovery.

Built from a real family use case, Brickfinder helps people find LEGO sets, parts, and minifigures from Shopify merchants through one focused experience.

The starting point

A useful product began with two curious LEGO fans.

My two boys are always looking for their next LEGO set, theme, minifigure, or tiny part. Searching across independent shops made that discovery fragmented and harder than it needed to be.

Brickfinder turns Shopify catalog data into a colorful, focused search experience. It demonstrates how a technical platform capability becomes valuable only when it is shaped around a clear audience and an enjoyable workflow.

The customer experience

Fast to understand, useful beyond the first search.

Intent-led search

Search naturally for a set, character, color, theme, or part instead of navigating a generic marketplace taxonomy.

Focused filters

Narrow results by price, currency, condition, and current availability without making the interface feel technical.

Playful shortcuts

Jump into popular LEGO worlds such as Star Wars, Ninjago, City, Minecraft, and Technic.

Product detail

Inspect images, variants, estimated prices, availability, and seller information before leaving for a merchant.

Treasure Box

Save interesting finds locally, then share a collection through a link or QR code.

Bilingual and responsive

Use the same focused journey in English or German across desktop and mobile screens.

Under the hood

Shopify's agent-ready catalog, shaped into a consumer product.

The implementation keeps protocol concerns behind a simple interface and translates catalog responses into a consistent browsing model.

  1. 01 · Experience

    Next.js and React interface

Responsive search, filters, product cards, detail views, favorites, localization, and accessible interaction states.

  2. 02 · Application API

    Purpose-built server routes

Internal search and product endpoints validate requests, keep integration details out of the browser, and normalize data for the UI.

  3. 03 · Catalog

    UCP Catalog capability over MCP

JSON-RPC tool calls connect the experience to Shopify catalog search and product retrieval while preserving buyer context and pagination.

What this unlocks for merchants

The same architecture can solve much more than LEGO search.

For a merchant, the opportunity is a branded discovery layer that understands how customers describe products and helps them reach a confident choice sooner.

01

Conversational storefront search

Let shoppers search by need, occasion, style, compatibility, or natural-language intent instead of exact product names.

02

Guided buying experiences

Build a specialist finder for complex catalogs such as parts, bundles, gifts, equipment, or products with many variants.

03

Curated collections and wishlists

Help customers save, compare, and share a shortlist that can lead back to available products and checkout.

04

Catalog-powered campaigns

Create focused seasonal, community, or niche experiences without rebuilding the underlying commerce system.

Shopify community recognition

Seen and shared by people shaping the Shopify ecosystem.

The launch reached Shopify leadership, developers, and community voices. These are reactions to the independent project, not endorsements by Shopify or LEGO.

Build the next discovery experience

Your catalog can become a product, not just a product grid.

If your customers struggle to find, compare, configure, or share the right products, I can turn that problem into a focused Shopify experience.
